One Lap of Grattan Raceway - Turn 1 Entry

Previous Home Next

01_turn_1_entry The braking zone for Turn 1 (T1) has a series of standing waves on the left side of the track, where most folks are doing a lot of hard braking (and there is a lot of braking to be done here – this corner is preceded by a long, fast straight). If you have a stiffly-sprung car, you may be more comfortable staying about a car-width off the left side of the track for most of your braking, moving left just before turn-in.

If you decide you are going too fast to make the turn, stay hard on the brakes and continue straight. There is a surprising amount of track that you normally do not use, and if that is not enough to get you slowed to the point where you can make the turn, at least you are going straight when you enter the gravel trap. Straight is better than sideways here.
