What to Take to the Track
When packing for the track, you want to take only those things that you need, but you also want to take everything that you might need! A listing of common items follows:
- Directions to the track and to your hotel
- Your Snell-approved helmet (if you are not renting one from the Audi Club)
- Your Driver’s License
- Tire pressure gauge
- Torque wrench (if you don’t have one, someone at the track will likely let you borrow theirs)
- A quart or two of oil, extra brake fluid, coolant, Pentosin/power steering fluid (your car may not need these items but it doesn’t hurt to have them on hand, just in case)
- Long cotton-fabric pants (no shorts allowed while on the track)
- Long sleeve cotton-fabric shirts (long sleeve preferred on the track)
- Comfortable shoes (no sandals or open shoes allowed on the track)
- Appropriate clothing in case of wet/cold weather (it could happen — remember this is Michigan — and we drive regardless of weather conditions)
- Fluids for you (water or sports drinks are preferred, alcoholic drinks are prohibited with zero tolerance while the track is hot)
- Snacks or other foods – many tracks have a food concession, but they may not have your favorite snack food or may not be open when you want it
- Suncreen and sunglasses
- Lawn chairs
- Umbrella
- Tarp or something to store your belongings that have been removed from your car.
Note 1:
You want your car empty of all loose items when at/on the track. Leave items you won’t need for your trip at home and you’ll have less to remove from your car at the track.
Note 2:
Spouses/significant others/family/friends are welcome at Audi Club events. However, be certain that small children have someone to watch them at all times. In the paddock cars — not people — have the right of way, particularly hot cars coming off the track.
Note 3:
Please leave all pets at home. Tracks often have strict rules regarding the management of pets.
